TURKS & CAICOS AGGRESSOR: General Info
The eight main isles of this beautiful archipelago -- the Turks & Caicos Islands -- are surrounded by ocean of a color so rare & compelling that photographers from around the world have marveled for decades at its indefinable, almost haunting & hypnotic hue. It's a sort of glowing blend of deep turquoise, ultramarine, jade green & royal blue; & the tint shifts subtly, magically, from hour to hour depending on cloud cover & angle of the sun overhead. This island group is so large that only via Turks & Caicos live-aboards can you see it properly.
Located about 580 miles Southeast of the Florida Panhandle, the Turks and Caicos Islands are a diver's daydream, & we thank God that not too many folks have discovered this fact to date. We always fear that once the word is out on islands this glorious to view, both from the deck & through your diving mask, then the crowds will come. So far, the clean, clear waters surrounding these two awesome island groups, divided by a 22-mile channel, are uncrowded & serene as any vacationer could wish for.
So what's the Turks and Caicos diving like? Let the Aggressor Fleet show you. And show you they will! Turks & Caicos live-aboards are da way t'go, mon! There are stunning walls to explore, including one wall in the western sector of this chain that plunges almost 7,000 vertical feet from sparkling coral reef, over a ledge & down a grade, then off into the black infinity, down a wall laden with sea life, down to where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic. Imagine that, funseekers: a 7,000-foot dropoff! Your heart started yet? There are Turks and Caicos diving days when you'll be able to hover like a wet-suited dragonfly, right over the lip of that great wall, & you'll feel the soul of the sea welling up inside your throat as your heart tattoos a healthy rhythm on your ribcage & your eyes widen like California poppies in the morning sun. Scuba diving from the Aggressors has a tendency to spark those glad symptoms, our clients insist.
The Turks & Caicos islands will offer you underwater viz that often exceeds 150 feet, & sometimes reaches as far as 200 feet, plus big critter action from sharks & rays galore, enormous frolicking sea turtles, huge grand-daddy barracuda that look like living torpedoes with an attitude, African pompano & sometimes on blessed days -- yes even the elusive & mysterious humpback whales in migratory pursuit of better ocean "pastures." Other Turks and Caicos diving wonders that will prod your memories for years to come are the hundreds of nurse sharks that gather at a crack in French Cay during one narrow two-month window each year, & many emotionally invigorating encounters with dolphins, both wild & tame. Who knows, if you're blessed on the right day, you might see the Prince of Whales some gliding by like some vast silent blubber submarine. One can only wonder. Turks & Caicos live-aboards provide the answer, clean, serene, keen on color.
